Correct Wearing & Use of Hard Hats

Hard hats are an essential piece of protective equipment that provide a last line of defense against potentially disabling or fatal head injuries. Proper use, fit and maintenance is critical for them to fulfill their life-saving role effectively.

1. Introduction to Hard Hats

1.1 Protective Effect of Hard Hats

– When the head of the operator is impacted by the falling object, the impact force is instantly decomposed to the entire area of the skull by using the hard hat shell and cap lining;
– Utilize the elastic deformation, plastic deformation and allowable structural damage of the buffer structure of each part of the hard hat to absorb most of the impact force, so that the final impact force on the head of the personnel is reduced, thereby protecting the head of the operator.

2. Correct Wearing of Hard Hats

• • Before wearing a safety hard hat, carefully check the certificate of conformity and the expiration date.
  • Always check whether there are cracks or abnormal damage on the appearance, and whether the distance between the top of the human head and the top of the cap is between 32-50mm.
  • Do not disassemble, modify or add accessories to the hard hat at will.
  • Store the hard hat in a dry and ventilated place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • As long as the helmet has been subjected to a strong impact, it cannot effectively absorb the external force again and must be replaced.

• Service Life of Hard Hats

– Hard hats must be used within the validity period;
– Plastic hard hats are valid for two and a half years;
-The service life of the hard hat is counted from the date when the product is manufactured, and there is a production date on the brim of the helmet.

3. Incorrect Use of Hard Hats

3.1 Chin Strap
The chin strap of the hard hat must be buckled under the chin and fastened tightly, and the tightness should be moderate.

When female employees enter the production area, they should put their long hair up and inside their hard hats
